HEAD BARTENDER

The Agora Hotel is an established boutique hotel and lifestyle concept in Lefkara, Cyprus. Our bar transports you from the cobblestoned village outside into an ageless, cosmopolitan living room.

We are seeking a high-performing charismatic Head Bartender & hospitality professional to help run day-to-day operations while contributing to increasing bar revenue and leading our teams in producing high-quality service.

In our bar, you will work in connection with our restaurant team Novél as well as independently to prepare and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages while providing unique and memorable experiences. You are genuinely interested in people, able to memorise guests' tastes and provide them with individualised recommendations.

To be successful in this role, you must have strong managerial and interpersonal skills, including listening and communication skills, organisational skills, and motivational skills. Result-oriented and solutions-driven, with an eye for detail, and excel in high-pressure and high-stress environments. We are looking for someone to help build a new concept ensuring brand clarity and integrity are always maintained.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparing and serving drinks in the bar and for the restaurant.

  • Make suggestions based on customer tastes and preferences.

  • Creating a welcoming environment for guests and fellow staff.

  • Clean glasses and bar utensils.

  • Create a positive atmosphere and experience for the guests. 

  • Can multitask and enjoy working in a busy, fast-paced environment.

  • Creating a welcoming environment for our guests.

  • Efficiently taking orders from guests at tables in the restaurant, courtyard & bar.

  • Provide excellent customer service to everyone, anticipating the guest’s needs.

  • Keeps workstation and equipment clean, organized, sanitized, and sufficiently stocked. 

  • Follows and upholds all health codes and sanitation regulations. 

  • Possess a ‘’can-do’’ attitude, team player, and good communication skills.

  • Receive deliveries from suppliers of goods and make sure to check quality and check that all is correct.

  • Uses waste control guidelines and records all waste within the designated wastage control systems.

  • Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed by the establishment.

  • Performs other duties assigned.

Head Bartender should also:

  • Oversee & execute monthly, weekly and daily routines of the bar instructing the team to follow the procedures.

  • Oversee weekly cleaning of the bar.

  • Collaborate with Food & Beverage Manager regarding HR related tasks such as but not limited to: hiring, terminations, evaluations of bartenders/runners, disciplinary actions etc, 

  • Participate in weekly meetings with the Food & Beverage Manager.

  • Train new employees to become bartenders & runners in accordance with our Bar & Restaurant standards

  • On a weekly basis, train bartenders and runners to improve bartending skills and ensure the bar is optimally organized.

  • On a daily basis follow up on the team and point out focus areas to the team to improve on.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Possess cocktail and mixology knowledge.

  • Experience in food and beverage or hospitality, preferably in a similar role.

  • Strong command of both spoken and written English.

  • Passionate about food and beverage and keen to learn while working.

  • Thrive in fast-paced, high-volume environments and maintain calm though quick and effective problem-solving under pressure.

  • Be welcoming, friendly, passionate about customer service, and respectful towards colleagues and guests.

  • Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed

  • Ability to stand on your feet for several hours and lift up to 20 kg if required 

  • Basic math & financial calculations
