KITCHEN PORTER

Our goal is to create an immersive food experience that allows guests to feel at home in our dining room, paying special attention to providing exceptional service.
We are seeking a passionate person striving to develop their knowledge of food and hygiene to serve as Kitchen Porter in our Restaurant. As a Kitchen Porter, you are likely to be a novice kitchen porter who will work under our Head Chef and other senior chefs in busy kitchen situations to expand your culinary knowledge and cleaning skills. You will perform various kitchen duties, such as assisting chef de parties in cleaning, tidy preparation areas, and rotating clean kitchen hardware to make it easy for the chefs to work efficiently while providing clean plates, glasses, cutleries and such to the Waiters in the restaurant.
You should be willing to go above and beyond to achieve the kitchen's objectives and have to be able to encourage yourself to do your best at all times while maintaining a great work ethic during busy/stressful situations. At the same time they should respectfully communicate with team members, especially during busy moments in the kitchen.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
General cleaning of all areas of the Back of House including kitchen, stockrooms, fridges, freezer, toilets & other staff areas.
Clean kitchen hardware/equipment to required specifications before and during operations.
Proper cleaning of all kitchen hardware. Complies with all kitchen hygiene, quality standards, department rules, policies and procedures.
Clean all Kitchen stations to the correct specifications in a timely manner.
Clean kitchen equipment to prepare food items such as: knives, slicers, whips, pots, pans, warmers, steamers, grills, ovens, etc.
Keep the dishwashing area clean at all times.
Ensure that all kitchen hardware and dishwashing area is cleaned after service before ending the shift.
Receive deliveries from suppliers of goods and make sure to check quality and check that all is correct.
Help with basic cooking and preparations of food.
Performs side work duties as instructed and according proper guidelines.
Keeps workstation and equipment clean, organized, sanitized.
Follows and upholds all health codes and sanitation regulations.
Sets up and operates kitchen equipment according to the instructions given.
Notifies senior staff before taking a decision to waste any item.
Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed by the establishment.
Performs other duties assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Have some knowledge of preparing food or cooking
Strong command of both spoken and written English.
Thrive in fast-paced and high-volume environments. Remain calm in stressful situations while effectively solving problems.
Must be welcoming, friendly, passionate about customer service, and respectful towards colleagues and guests.
Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Ability to stand on your feet for several hours and lift up to 20 kg if required
Basic math calculations.
